Dry Spell

Its summer, fallow season, what did you expect? So I started off the summer with some ambition. I lost it all last week, which I'm blaming on being half sick. This week energy is back, but I'm busy with I don't even know what. The biggest complaint I have with mommying is that if you do not have a plan, your day will completely get away from you.

Since I have not posted for 2 1/5 weeks, I will now recap:

Fun things we did:

The Beach Club with Beda and Ruth--Ruth and I went down to visit Beda in the Real OC, Rancho Santa Margarita. Our minds were blown by the amenities they have in their neighborhoods down there. We went to a circular pool that had beach entry along its entire circumference. It was the best recreational moment Ruth and I have had as moms so far. The little babies can sit and splash and eat sand, while the toddlers can tool around like they own the place and the older kids can roam freely making friends and never getting bored. What do the moms do? They sit. Ah, blessed day! Thank you Beda. No pics, I guess I was enjoying myself too much.

4th of July--After swimming at Auntie Di's pool, we headed over to the Yorba Linda fireworks. What can I say, we watched fireworks. They were seriously impressive and they played all the right 4th of July hits: Neil Diamond's "We're Coming to America," "I'm Proud to be an American". Most memorable moment, catching site of Finn's white head bobbing up and down on top of Scott's shoulders about a football field away. That hair makes him completely conspicuous in a crowd--it's like glow in the dark.

5th of July--Manpreet and Scott's wedding was awesome, as I knew it would be. Ingredients for a fabulous wedding were all included: fantastic music from the ol' ipod, grooms and then brides losing their composure, sisters to the groom losing her composure, amazing hors d'ouvres, insane brownies, an Irish band (who knew?), proud fathers smoking cigars, proud father from India dancing to an Irish band, amazing dresses and flowers, and a beautiful couple that are definitely in love.

Trip to Los Angeles--So I finally realized that with my two kids, the best way to go to downtown LA is to go just me and the boys. As much as I love having the company of friends, I think
the craziness that is shopping in LA with two little dudes can be a bit overwhelming. So, I just flew solo and it actually worked. I brought popcorn and suckers for Finn, Franco was perfect as always, and we hit up two stores only. Then we went over to American Apparel to visit Uncle Spencer and check out the factory store. I'm in love with American Apparel. I will shop there evermore! Thank you Spencer for entertaining the little dudes! Finn loves Uncle Spencer. By the way, this day was %100 for me. I had a lot of fun!

Concert in the Park with Finn and Franco
--I have been trying to have something to do during the 5 o'clock hour these days. I am anxiously awaiting the day that we have a back yard because I think a backyard is made for that stir-crazy hour. Until then we will hit up anything that is going on. Hillbilly music down the street? Sure. We bought some dollar dawgs, which Finn threw on the ground, and popcorn (not excited for that diaper) and sat on the lawn with the Brea community. These community endeavors are not to be under-appreciated. I didn't really know anyone there, but I felt like we were all just part of the community and, therefore, we belonged. I kept Finn strapped in the stroller as long as I could and when I finally unleashed him, he was hillbillying it right up. It was a funny transition from gazing with sleepy eyes at the spectacle from his stroller, munching on popcorn to immediately breaking it down to the accordian and violin solos. He tested his limits, walked circles around our neighbors, waving goodbye to me to see my reaction. His funky little gallop ruined my straight face that was supposed to communicate to him to stay within a reasonable distance. Franco on the other hand just rocked his little heart out. This kid has really got his rock on. He throws his little head back into my chest and I sometimes lose my breath because he does it with such gusto. I was amazed and expect to return to that little concert in the park. Anybody want to join?

Video at the end of this post is Finn dancing at this concert.

Things we love
Wading pools

Ruby's pool

So that is why we use swim diapers.

The pirate ship. When we saw this ship in the store, Finn immediately started to take off his shirt and ask for a Popsicle. His memory is a steel trap and that is exactly what happened when we went to Ruby's house, he took off his clothes, got in the pool, and had a Popsicle. Finn has a love/hate relationship with pirates. The other day he woke up really upset from his nap. I thought it might have been a nightmare so I asked him, "Was it scary?" He said, "Yes, scary pirate ship/rocket ship" (he's very confused by there being rocket and pirate ships so he just says both to cover himself). Awww, a nightmare about pirates. This is my fault because I fairly recently took him on Pirates of the Caribbean; he burried his head in my arm.

Girls' Night Out
Xanadu--wow, have you seen this recently, hit me up if you haven't
Franco monster, he has a really good growl
Chatter-box Finn
Colt's painting for the boy's room (will get a pic soon)
Gain laudry detergent
Chilean Sea Bass
Cars

American Apparel
Project Runway, thank you for starting season 5!
Free kids movies at Regal
Franco

Finn loves Franco! He finally got it. He has a little playmate in the making.
Finn has started Franco's training already. He brought Franco the Elmo guitar the other morning and got himself Uncle Carter's hand-me-down big guy guitar and they battled it out.

Sorry it is so close up. He busted the moves before I could get prepared.
